Searching the Renton Court Docket
Start at Renton Municipal Court whenever your paperwork names that court. The official page collects several tools. Find My Court Date, View Today's Hearings, Pay a Court Fine, Request a Hearing, Find a Form, Virtual Court, court recordings, local rules, and case-record requests all sit there. Each tool does one job. A date lookup will not pull every document. A payment screen is not the full Renton court docket. So match the task to the right link before you assume a search came up empty.
The statewide AOC index gives you a second way to reach Renton municipal cases. Have the case number handy if you can. Name searches often surface similar names. Check the caption, court, case type, filing date, and event details before trusting any match.
- Read the newest notice for “Renton Municipal Court” and the case number.
- Open the city court's Find My Court Date or Today's Hearings route for a scheduled event.
- Use the Washington AOC Case Records Search as a second index.
- Compare the result with the hearing notice and active docket event.
- Call or email the Renton clerk when the date, court, or record is unclear.
Renton Court at City Hall
Renton Municipal Court sits on the third floor of Renton City Hall. The address is 1055 South Grady Way, Renton, WA 98057. Call 425-430-6550, fax 425-430-6544, or email rmcourt@rentonwa.gov. Judge Jessica Giner presides, and Judge Kara Murphy Richards also serves on the bench.
Do not confuse this court with King County District Court or King County Superior Court. People make that mistake often. A Renton address or an incident inside the city does not place a case on the municipal docket. Read the court name printed on your citation, charging notice, hearing notice, or case search result. Then search that court.

Renton Municipal Court Basics
Renton Municipal Court handles the city matters assigned to municipal jurisdiction. Those are local misdemeanor, traffic, parking, and ordinance cases. It does not replace the county courts. Felonies and many major civil, family, probate, and other general-jurisdiction matters belong in King County Superior Court. County misdemeanors, infractions, and limited civil matters may fall to KCDC instead.
That division tells you which clerk holds the docket. For Renton municipal cases, the city clerk keeps the official case record. It also runs the city's form process. A KCDC case goes through the District Court portal and records office. Superior Court work uses KC Script and the Department of Judicial Administration. Always search the court printed on the paper, not the one that seems closest.
| Paper names | Docket route | Record keeper |
|---|---|---|
| Renton Municipal Court | Renton date tools, AOC index, city clerk | Renton Municipal Court |
| King County District Court | KCDC Case Access Portal | KCDC clerk |
| King County Superior Court | KC Script and Superior calendars | Superior Clerk/DJA |
Renton's Split Clerk Hours
Renton splits its service hours, so plan around the counter and phone schedules. In-person clerk hours run Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to noon and 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. That half-hour midday closure matters. File a form or ask about a Renton court docket at the window before it hits.
Phone hours are tighter. Monday through Thursday, lines open 8:30 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The afternoon break runs longer there. On Friday the phone is listed only from 8:30 a.m. to noon. You can email rmcourt@rentonwa.gov anytime. Still, a message never changes a due date or create a court setting.
Plan the contact: the Renton counter reopens at 12:30 p.m., while weekday afternoon phone service begins at 1 p.m. and is not listed Friday.
Check the official court page before you drive over. A published normal schedule can still change for a holiday or emergency closure.
Court Dates and Settings in Renton
The city's Find My Court Date and View Today's Hearings links are the most direct routes. Together they cover a Renton schedule. The AOC Find My Court Date search works as another municipal-court index. Your notice still matters most, though. It carries the case number, the assigned court, the appearance method, and the location.
| Court | Confirm that the result says Renton Municipal Court. |
|---|---|
| Case number | Match the full identifier to the current notice. |
| Date and time | Use the newest active setting, not an old or held event. |
| Hearing type | Identify arraignment, pretrial, motion, review, trial, sentencing, or another event. |
| Appearance | Follow the court's in-person or approved virtual instruction. |
| Result | Look for held, continued, reset, vacated, or another status after a scheduled event. |
Call 425-430-6550 if a Renton setting conflicts with your notice. Court proceedings can be reset, and today's hearing list never replaces a future hearing notice.
Traffic Tickets in Renton
Read a Renton traffic or parking citation closely. It names the court, the number, the response terms, and the due date. On the municipal page, Pay a Court Fine and Request a Hearing are separate routes. Paying, requesting a hearing, and asking for case records are three different acts. Pick the one that matches your notice and the response you want.
The Renton court docket can show the citation case. Its hearing settings, event results, and disposition may appear there too. The statewide index may help you find the case. But the city clerk controls the official record. If you need the filed notice, an order, audio, or a certified copy, use Renton's records process. A payment receipt or a search summary will not serve in its place.
The countywide traffic ticket reference explains how municipal, District Court, and state records divide the work. For a Renton citation, the local notice and the municipal clerk come first.
Renton Youth and Community Courts
Renton stands out among municipal courts. Its city page links two named programs: Youth Traffic Court and Community Court. Those programs shape how a Renton court docket reads. A program link can describe the setting. It can also map the response route, or services tied to a case. It does not open restricted material to the public.
Youth Traffic Court is not a license to publish identifying juvenile data. Washington court-access rules limit public web display of juvenile offender information. Other juvenile records may be confidential too. A party, parent, lawyer, or another person with a recognized right of access should follow the clerk's authorized process for the request.
Community Court sits inside the municipal system as a case path. It is not a different county clerk. When a program label or next step is unclear, search the Renton court docket. Then contact the city court directly.
Where Renton Cases Go
Renton municipal cases stay with Renton Municipal Court unless a lawful process routes an issue elsewhere. County cases belong to the county court named in the record. Appeals and transfers can generate later entries or a new case number, so follow any notice of appeal, record transmission, transfer, or new filing that appears on the docket.
Docket flow: Renton Municipal Court › King County courts as jurisdiction requires › King County Superior Court for general-jurisdiction matters › Washington Court of Appeals, Division One for qualifying Superior appeals.
Treat this line as a jurisdiction map. It is not a promise that every Renton case passes through each court. Most municipal matters resolve inside the municipal system. When a later filing is referenced, switch to the new court's portal and clerk. A city case number may not work in KC Script or KCDC.
Renton Records by Email or Mail
Want a case document from Renton Municipal Court? Fill out the city's Case Information Records Request form. Then submit it by email or mail. Include enough detail to identify the file. List your contact information, the case number, and the party or caption. Add the document title or event date, and how you want delivery. A focused request for one order or recording moves faster than a vague demand for everything. The official Renton court records page posts the current form along with directions for submitting it.

The city's records page ties the local court to its request path. Use that current form instead of sending a general city question, and keep a copy of what you submit.
Renton Copy Fees and Timing
Good news on cost: Renton generally transmits electronic records for free. Hard copies run $0.15 per letter-size, single-sided page. After the first hour, research costs $30 per hour. Describe any certification, recording, or unusual media needs in the request so the clerk can quote the right charge.
| Renton record service | Published term |
|---|---|
| Electronic record | Generally free when electronically transmitted |
| Paper copy | $0.15 per letter-size, single-sided page |
| Research time | $30 per hour after the first hour |
| Certification or recording | Ask the municipal clerk for the current product and fee |
The Renton court promises a response within five days. That response might be the records, a reasonable completion date, or a mailed clarification request. Five days is not a promise that every record lands in five days.
Renton Administrative Record Requests
A municipal case file and a court administrative record follow different rules. The Case Information Records Request form covers the docket and documents in a case. Court administration records follow a different route. Renton has a separate form and procedure for them under Washington GR 31.1.
Under the published Renton process, an administrative denial can get internal review. The request must come within 90 days. An external-review option stays open for 30 days after the internal decision. Neither step substitutes for an appeal in a municipal case. Neither turns an administrative request into a case-record request.
Describe the record you want before picking a form. Orders, judgments, citations, and dockets belong on the case-information route. So do recordings and hearing documents. A policy or similar administrative record belongs on the GR 31.1 route.
Renton Court Record Access Rules
Most ordinary Renton court records are open. The online index, though, is not guaranteed to be complete. Law, court rule, and court order can each restrict access. Juvenile, sealed, mental-health, protected family, and confidential-source material may be hidden or redacted. Or it may be released only to someone authorized. A failed search does not prove no case exists.
Washington court access:
GR 31 governs public access to court records and limits public website display of juvenile offender information.
GR 15 governs sealing and redaction through court procedures.
GR 31.1 governs administrative records of the judiciary through a separate request path.
For the official document or a certified copy, ask Renton Municipal Court. The city clerk can explain the request channel and any access decision, but cannot give legal advice.
